On the night guests enjoyed watching excerpts of some of the featured performances.
Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre manager Stephen Champion said this brings the year’s productions to life.
He said this always creates greater excitement than reading a brochure.
Attending last night’s launch were Bathurst MP Paul Toole, deputy mayor Ian North and Reliance Credit Union regional development officer Mark Haley.
Reliance Credit Union has been the principal sponsor for the past 17 years. The aim of the evening was to encourage community members to either subscribe to a minimum of five performances or become members and receive discount tickets to any number of performances.
Mr Champion said there will be 14 world class shows in next year’s season, along with numerous commercial hires. Sometimes these commercial shows can be encouraged to offer discounts to members and subscribers.
In addition to the season, BMEC is focused on developing and promoting local performing arts through programs like Local Stages and the Inland Sea of Sound. Mr Champion said in that way the community gets to enjoy the best of both worlds – great touring companies and local artists.
“There really is something for everyone, from country music, to opera and circus and cabaret to dance,” he said. “I can never choose a highlight. The launch is enjoyable because you have a great opportunity to meet people who’ve never been before.
“Sometimes people go for just the dance, or just the music, so the launch brings them all together for one night,” he said.
