Dylan Rae, 24, of Mooney Valley Place in Bathurst appeared before magistrate Michael Allen last month, charged with the offences.
The court heard that on February 15 last year Rae was drinking at the Elephant and Castle Hotel and was in the balcony area when he became verbally abusive towards other people.
When he was approached by security staff, he began abusing them as he backed himself into a corner.
The security staff asked him to settle down and explain what his issue was, but he reached into the right pocket of his jeans and pulled out a red multi tool made up of pliers and knives concealed within the tool. He pointed the weapon towards staff and other patrons saying, “I’ll stab you, you and you”.
Security staff tried to calm Rae down but he continued to say to them, “I’ll stab use [sic] what’s your [expletive] issue.”
Rae walked towards the exit of the hotel and put the multi tool back in his pocket, but he continued to yell and scream abuse, removing his T-shirt saying, “I’ll take all of you gronks, let’s go now.”
Police arrived and security staff pointed Rae out to them. As they approached, he jumped into the back of a taxi.
Police told Rae to get out of the cab and he began abusing them, saying to them “I’m not [expletive] getting out of here I’m going home, [expletive] off.”
Police then drew their firearms, instructing Rae to get out of the taxi and onto the ground with his hands behind his back.
Rae complied, yelling expletives as he got out of the vehicle. Police handcuffed him and located the multi tool in his pocket.
Rae’s level of intoxication meant police were unable to interview him.
Mr Allen convicted Rae on both charges, placing him on a Section 9 bond for a period of 12 months, and ordering the weapon be forfeited.
