The sold-out, fifth annual event, attracted 66 people to the two-day grand period dance.
Ball organiser Marlene Welch said Saturday night’s ball, held in the magnificent ballroom, was wonderful.
“Guests dressed in period costumes from 1850 to 1900,” she said.
“It’s lovely to be able to relive and dance and dress the way they dressed.
“We eat and live like they did in those times.”
Ladies in long dresses and men in top hats mingled around Abercrombie House’s extensive gardens.
They then dined at long tables on wide verandahs as they watched the sunset.
Mrs Welch, of the Bathurst Old Time New Vogue Dance Group, said the ball was a huge success.
She said all guests at the invitation-only event had to be able to dance in old time, ballroom or new vogue styles.
“You must be able to do old time, new vogue dance, you have to be able to dance,” she said.
“[It looks] like a wave on the dance floor all night.”
A bellringer was also part of the event, ringing in each new bracket of dancing.
The party continued yesterday as guests returned to Abercrombie House for more celebrations.
“We have an after-ball dance. We have a brunch and dance from 10.30am until 1.30pm,” Mrs Welch said.
People from Adelaide, Wagga Wagga, Sydney, Canberra and across the Central West came to Bathurst for the weekend’s events.
“A whole bus-load came from Cowra and stayed overnight and they’ll be back next year,” Mrs Welch said.
All funds raised from the event will go towards the ongoing restoration of Abercrombie House.
Next year’s ball will be held on February 18, and it is already fully booked.
