IF ever there was a worthy cause for the Bathurst community to get behind, it would have to be the much-loved Daffodil Cottage.

The cancer treatment facility in the grounds of the Bathurst hospital was built as a result of the goodwill and generosity of local residents.
It’s a classic example of what can be achieved by people power.
In recent times the massive fundraising effort for the Daffodil Cottage extension project has been another example of Bathurst residents banding together for a common goal.
The good news is the work expanding the cottage’s facilities has been completed and it’s a real credit to all involved in bringing it to fruition.
But wait, more goodwill has been showered on Daffodil Cottage thanks to an array of medical equipment being donated by Raine and Horne in Bathurst.
Over the past year, the local real estate agency made a commitment to donate $100 for every property sold and this has now been translated into more than $25,000 worth of equipment now in place at the cottage.
Another example of the community’s drive to help Daffodil Cottage came at the weekend thanks to members of the Bathurst Garden Club.
They spent Saturday morning rejuvenating the garden after it had to be removed during the work on the extension.
Many of the plants were able to be saved and stored before being replanted by the club’s members who also chipped in by donating some plants of their own.
Garden club members have also made an ongoing commitment to help keep the gardens in tip top condition. This will include another working bee in coming months to finish the job they started by adding a feature tree to the front courtyard of the building and trimming the hedges.
To everyone who has contributed in some small way to making Daffodil Cottage what it is today, the Bathurst community owes you a debt of thanks.
