The Bathurst Winter Festival officially opens at 4pm on Saturday, but people can experience some of its biggest attractions bright and early.
Opening at 9am will be the highly anticipated McDonald’s Bathurst Ice Rink and the giant ferris wheel.
As a result of its popularity last year, the ice rink has increased in size to 18m x 20m, allowing it to accommodate up to 120 skaters during each session.
The sessions will run from 9am to 9pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and from 9am to 8pm every other day of the festival.
Tickets cost $5 for children under the age of 14 years and $10 for adults.
Those who don’t feel confident on the ice can enjoy panoramic views of Bathurst from the ferris wheel for $5.
Member for Bathurst Paul Toole encouraged people to make the most of this rare opportunity.
“To be in what I call the heart of the city and looking down at the beautiful Kings Parade... it’s a sight not to be missed,” he said.
