A strong performer from the Bathurst City Amateur Swim Club at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre was one of the team’s youngest members, 10-year-old Toby Partridge, who powered his way to a bronze medal in the 50m freesyle.
Partridge matched the bronze he scored at the long course championships in the same event earlier this season.
Collette Lyons was Bathurst’s other medallist with gold in the 11 years 50m breaststroke and a bronze for the 50m freestyle.
Kirrily Edwards and Patrick O’Hara scored personal bests in every race they contested while Kate Edwards managed the same feat for four out of her five races.
Ben Roffe and Emilee Miller also managed to lower their previous best marks. Emily Press, Jasmine Gold and Lauren Lyons all produced strong swims against some of the state’s best junior swimmers.
“The whole coaching staff, myself, Josh Stapley and Paul Dobson, are all really happy with how they all went on the weekend,” coach Steve Howell said.
“They’ve all swam beyond our expectations.
“All the other kids in the club are being inspired by this group to try and make it to Country in the summer.”
