Race favourite Blitzkrieg ($3.60) didn't disappoint either the punters or his Lidsdale trainer John Chapman with a three-and-a-quarter length win.
Azazel ($5.40) appeared to have Blitzkrieg's measure but had to settle for second place, one-and-a-quarter lengths clear of Zipping Maria ($18.60)in third.
Azazel and Zipping Maria got out strongest from boxes six and four respectively.
Blitzkrieg wasn't away as quickly but showed excellent speed over the opening 50m to quickly pass Zipping Maria.
On the turn for home Blitzkrieg continued his charge along the rail and fought his way to the lead before the field straightened for home.
Blitzkrieg only continued to extend his margin on the run to the line, taking his third career win.
His last win came seven starts back in June.
"He's just been a bit outgraded at times so these nought-to-two win races are pretty handy when they come along, so I opted for the shorter distance today," Chapman said.
"Last week he ran third to a dog that had won 14 and had won in town and now he's racing maidens today, but he needed the drop.
"He needed a confidence booster and he got it today."
