McDonald is one of several Bathurst Panthers staff and players who are in the ownership group of the Four Starzzz Shark runner.
The group includes Bathurst Harness Racing CEO Danny Dwyer and Group 10 premier league coach Todd Barrow.
“He’s the first horse I’ve owned. Danny sorted out for our football team. There’s six of us from the team involved. It’s just for a bit of fun but it’s even more fun when he wins,” McDonald said.
“It’s a bit of relief for me actually. I’ve been here to watch a few times. It’s had one win before but I was up at the Gold Coast for that so I thought it was almost time for me to go to the Gold Coast again so it would have a chance.
“He won quite easily in the end. He’s got quite a bit of potential.”
