The accident occurred around 10.30am between a Ford Fairlane and a Toyota Corolla at the intersection of the Great Western Highway and Sunny Corner Road at Meadow Flat.
Traffic and Highway Patrol Command Senior Constable Ian Stibbard said it appeared the male driver of the Ford was attempting to make a right turn from Sunny Corner Road onto the highway when the accident occurred.
The female driver of the Corolla and her male passenger received chest injuries in the accident and were transported to Bathurst Hospital.
The 71-year-old front seat passenger in Ford had suspected back and chest injuries and was airlifted by NSW Ambulance helicopter to Westmead Hospital.
The male driver of the Ford and his back seat passenger were uninjured.
A German Shepherd travelling in the rear of the Corolla was also injured and taken to a vet in Bathurst with a suspected dislocated hip.
