Jack Hockings, who owns and operates a coffee shop running out of Gunthers Lane, has been nominated for the Small Business Achiever Award in the NSW/ACT Young Achiever Awards.
The NSW/ACT Young Achiever Awards recognise and celebrate the positive achievements of young individuals in NSW and the ACT.
The nomination form for Mr Hockings, 23, says he is an “entrepreneur at heart and loves to give 100 per cent”.
His nominator says Mr Hockings went from an employee to a business owner within a matter of weeks when he set up the business in Gunthers Lane.
Since opening “with very little foot traffic into the business”, he has been able to increase the patronage drastically, according to the nomination.
The Small Business Achiever Award is one of six categories in the NSW/ACT Young Achiever Awards.
The others are the Arts and Fashion Award, Leadership Award, Community Service Award, Aboriginal Education Award and Environment Award.
Judging will be held on February 8, 2017 and finalists will be presented and winners will be announced at a gala presentation dinner at the SMC Conference and Function Centre in Sydney on Friday, March 24, 2017.
Category winners will each receive $2500 and a trophy. One of the six category winners will be chosen as the NSW/ACT Young Achiever of the Year and will win an additional $5000.
