Bulls, in fifth, have their own battle for a finals spot and are running out of time to get inside the top four.
It sets the stage for an exciting two-day clash.
Colts captain Dan Casey is coming into the game off a match-winning knock of 153 against ORC.
He’s hoping to carry that form into Saturday’s match against players he deems some of the city’s most dangerous.
“They’re obviously one of the best teams going around when at full strength. Josh Toole is one of the best players in Bathurst, Aaron Seymour has been good with both the bat and ball and they’ve now picked up Mick Curtale,” he said.
“They also have a lot of players who can play around those three. When they aren’t there that takes a lot out of them but if they’re all there they can be hard to stop.”
Now that the competition’s top three have formed a small break, Casey said the focus now goes towards trying to keep Redbacks at bay.
“Rugby is in front by a bit but there’s not much between us and Redbacks. We’re trying to cement that top two spot but there’s still a lot of cricket left,” he said.
“It could even end up coming down to the final round game against Redbacks for that spot.”
Just .19 of a point separates Colts and Redbacks while Bulls have 4.5 points to make up to get to ORC in fourth position.
