Kinda Tangy is being set for the inaugural $50,000 Picnic Championship at Dubbo in September following a hard fought win in the Yass Picnic Cup (1400 metres) on Saturday. The field for the Championship Final will comprise the leading point scorers over the NSW picnic circuit and the Neil Osborne, Canberra trained Kinda Tangy after wins at Harden and Yass shares top spot on the ladder with the Mark Cross,Wyong trained Stradance.

A four year old mare, Kinda Tangy ($3.50 favourite) carried the 65kg top weight at Yass and with the talented Billy Owen in the saddle came from midfield to beat Liability Adjuster (Samara Johnson, $6.50) by a length by a length with The Real McCoy (Michael Gray, $15) a half head away third.
Billy Owen also won the Maiden Plate (1200 metres) on the Kylie Kennedy, Narromine trained Baroness Snow ($6) which travelled behind the three leaders before darting through a gap to beat Southern Gold (Ashley Boyd, $4.60) and Yangon (Samara Johnson, $6). Ricky Blewitt came back after a lengthy time off with a broken wrist to win the recent Condobolin Picnic Cup on Double Halo and followed up with an all the way win on Lightning Alert at Yass.
