Small Business Minister Michael McCormack – who was given the job in Malcolm Turnbull’s ministry after the Coalition’s narrow election victory in July last year – started his roadshow in February in suburban Adelaide and it was in Queensland last week.
The former Wagga Wagga newspaper editor has been emphasising the Federal Government's plan to cut the small business tax rate and to make paperwork simpler for the sector.
While in the Central Tablelands, he is also promoting the Australian Small Business Advisory Service Central NSW Business Enterprise Centre, which provides advice for Central West small businesses about new business strategies, making the most of the NBN and other business development workshops.
It is also a SmallBiz Connect provider, offering a subsidised advisory program for small businesses
“From Bathurst to Blayney and Oberon to Orange, the 14,051 small businesses in the Calare electorate are the job-creators of the Central West,” he said before his visit.
“No matter the community, no matter the region, no matter the small business, the story is the same.
“It is small business – not Government – which creates jobs.”
Mr McCormack and Member for Calare Andrew Gee will travel through Bathurst and Oberon on Tuesday as part of the roadshow.
Mr McCormack, the Member for Riverina, made headlines in 2015 when he urged then prime minister Tony Abbott to visit the Royal Hotel in Grong Grong, near Narrandera, to get an honest appraisal of how the government could improve.
