Kable has been selected in School Sport Australia’s All Australian girls hockey side which will spend three weeks in Europe.
There the central midfielder will put her skills to the test against other emerging hockey talents.
“This is my first Australian team because I was under age last year and I couldn’t really try out. I’m under age again this year, but I was lucky to get picked,” the 16-year-old said.
“I’ve played for New South Wales since I was 11, so I’m really looking forward to playing for this Australian team.
“I think we travel around to six different countries in Europe and play like The Netherlands and Germany – it’s going to be really, really good.”
The process of gaining selection in the Australian outfit began last year when she was in Year 10 at MacKillop College.
After being selected to represent her school, Kable went on to attended Diocesan and NSW Catholic Schools trials.
She was successful at both of those and earned selection in the NSW All Schools side.
“I went to nationals in Melbourne and we ended up coming second and I got selected from there,” she said.
“Getting selected was awesome. I ordered my uniform the other day, and it’s just amazing, you get your name on the back.”
While Kable has some two months to wait for the tour, which runs from May 19 to June 7, she will play plenty of hockey before then.
She plays for All Saints’ in the Bathurst Junior Women’s Hockey Association and Lithgow Panthers in the Premier League Hockey competition.
On top of that, Kable represents Ryde-Hunters Hill in the Metro League on weekends as well.
“I was at MacKillop College last year and I’ve only transferred to All Saints’ this year, so I’ve only just started playing with them,” Kable said.
“But our team is quite strong, they’ve won the comp for the last few years and I’m pretty sure they’re putting a team in opens this year because they’re too strong for 15s.
“I play Premier League for Panthers and that’s on Saturdays too and it’s definitely going to be hard because I play in Sydney as well in the Metro League. We play mostly Sundays in that comp, but there’s a few Saturdays in there.
“There’s going to be a bit of chopping and changing.”
