The B2B UCI Gran Fondo qualifier 110 kilometre event is an additional starting wave, following the gold categories starts.
Bathurst Cycling Club president Mark Simons said the event has come a long way, from being a local club event to a world qualifying event.
“Because it’s an international event, competitors will be coming from all over Australia
“They might be coming from New Zealand and if they missed qualification in South Africa, who knows, there might be international competitors.”
Albi in France will be the host for the UCI World Championships, from August 24 to 27, 2017.
Australia has been the best represented country in terms of numbers of participants in the World Championships over the past six years.
