In the last four meetings between the pair, three have been decided by one goal while the other was a 2-all draw.
That came after the 2014 elimination semi-final when Parkes defeated Souths in a penalty shoot-out.
So the news that Parkes will be missing four of its more experienced players in Amy Thornberry, Denise Gersbach, Codie Wakefield and Bec Cowling for this Saturday’s match against Souths is good news for the two blues.
Parkes will host Souths – a team it has not lost to since July 18, 2015 – in round two of competition.
It will be Parkes’ season opener after deferring last Saturday’s match against Zig Zag, while Souths’ players will look to hit back after falling 2-1 to Confederates. The match starts at 11am.
