The centre will be constructed on a vacant block of land at 185 Durham Street, on the corner of Peel Street.
Long-time Bathurst cardiologist Dr Ray Parkin lodged the plans with council earlier this year and said at the time that after 10 years at his current Bentinck Street site it was time to move.
“Bathurst Cardiology is growing and the current premises are getting too small,” he said.
“I’m keen to expand cardiology services and get more cardiologists out here.
“The new premises will be three times the size of the current one.”
Dr Parkin said the relocation and development of the new centre will bring benefits for the wider community.
He said the new centre will allow more specialist medical services practitioners to come to Bathurst.
“I’d like to attract other specialists to Bathurst, and there will be consulting rooms [in the new premises],” Dr Parkin said.
“Bathurst is the fastest growing inland country town and there’s a lot of specialist services in Orange that we don’t have here.

“We don’t have a neurologist or an endocrinologists or a respiratory physician.”
The development application document showed the centre would have seven consultation rooms, along with specialist rooms for exercise tests, echocardiography and pulmonary function tests.
Entry to the centre will be via Peel Street, with all vehicles to exit onto Durham Street.
Dr Parkin said construction would commence soon, with Bathurst Cardiology to move into its new premises on Durham Street by the end of the year.
“It will have all the latest equipment for staff and customers,” he said.
“There will be more parking available, bigger rooms, bigger facilities and it will be more modern.”
