The St Pat’s juniors will enjoy three matches over as many days in Toronto, south-west of Newcastle, taking on other representative sides Southern NSW, Sydney Red and a President’s side.
It was a tough selection path for the three players who had make through three trial matches at Blayney, Peak Hill and Coonabarabran.
Pat’s under 15s coach Chris O’Neill isn’t surprised to see the trio take the next step.
“They’ve been playing really well for us this year and they’re all leaders in our team,” he said.
“Blake is our captain, at lock. He leads from the front, has a high work rate and been rewarded for that work.
“Ash was at lock but this year we put him at fullback. He’s strong as exceptionally fast, so putting him at fullback has given him that extra room to play.
“Tyler in his earlier days was playing around the wing or at fullback. He’s got a smart football brain so he’s now playing at five-eighth … and doing a great job at steering the ship.”
O’Neill said his players have plenty to play for.
“They’re all passionate players and that’s what makes the difference,” he said.
“I have a few contacts from my days at St Mary’s and Penrith … and I’ve organised a player manager to come up to this event to watch them play. I wouldn’t have done that if they weren’t passionate about it.”
