Green paint has been splattered across the VW LT-25 van that had been left by the roadside with a For Sale sign in the front window.
The vandals also smashed the front windscreen of the vehicle and the passenger’s side window.
The vacant lot near Edgells Lane has become a popular spot for people looking to off-load a car and also buyers looking to bypass local dealerships.
But it is not without its dangers and Bathurst police have previously warned against leaving vehicles there overnight.
Bathurst Regional Council has also expressed its frustration with such informal car lots but is virtually powerless to stop them.
The Western Advocate has previously reported on unattended vehicles either being burnt out or having the windows smashed while left beside Hereford Street.
