This year’s two street parties, held on July 1 and 8, attracted an estimated 22,000 people to the central business district.
While many people had praise for the Bathurst Regional Council-run festival, some said changes needed to be made to alleviate long queues for food during both parties.
“We may look into also including food and wine on Friday night prior to festival nights,” mayor Graeme Hanger said.
The mayor also addressed complaints about the location of food vendor vans and stalls.
He said using Church Street as the food hub had worked at previous winter festivals and at race week.
“Food vendors tend to want to stick together, we have had issues when food has been split over the site, some food vendors were in busier areas than others. Which is why all food is kept together,” he said.
“However, knowing that Machattie Park worked well, we could extend food out there next year.”
Cr Hanger said the street parties were always supposed to create flow-on business to cafes and restaurants in the central business district.
“Council wants to support local business as much as possible,” he said.
“Many CBD hospitality businesses were reported to be busy on Saturday night.”
Cr Hanger said applications to hold a food stall at the festival’s street parties were open to everyone and “no vendors were turned away”.
“Food trucks were from Bathurst, Orange and Sydney,” he said.
“We would welcome more local, regional and out of town vendors.”
