Carter contested both the Keirin and Madison events in the elite men’s category over Tuesday and Wednesday, going up against cyclists from across Australia, New Zealand and Malaysia.
It was a tough task for Carter and racing partner Jordan Louis in the Madison, slipping into negative points (-15) but still finding a fifth place finish against a strong field pf 11 pairs.
Kiwi duo Tom Sexton and Campbell Stewart won the event with 66 points beating countrymen Nicholas Kergozou and Josh Scott (50 points).
Carter was beaten in his Keirin heat by Australia’s Jacob Schmid. The Bathurst rider had a second chance to qualify, if he could score a win in the repechage, but finished third.
The ITS continues this week with the Tasman Cup on Thursday and the DISC Grand Prix event over Friday and Saturday.
