Mr Roach – along with general manager David Sherley and former environmental planning and building services director David Shaw – was one of the “gang of three” who ran Bathurst Regional Council for many years.
Mr Shaw resigned in July 2015 while former director of engineering Doug Patterson left council in January.
Uncertainty over council’s future during the amalgamation debate meant both those positions remained vacant for longer than would usually be the case, though council finally advertised in May to fill them.
Darren Sturgiss has been confirmed as the new director of engineering but the planning role has now been re-advertised alongside the corporate services vacancy.
Local Government Management Solutions has been engaged to run the recruitment process and applications for both roles close at 5pm on Monday.
“There has never been a better time to facilitate and lead the change in local government,” the advertisements read.
“Council is seeking two highly experienced senior executives to join its management team in supporting the general manager and council to build and maintain effective and productive relationships.
“As part of the executive management team, you will be responsible for the collective strategic direction of the organisation and demonstrate genuine leadership qualities, strategic and lateral thinking and an understanding and acceptance of a changing culture.
“This is an exciting time to join a progressive regional Council and utilise your knowledge, passion and leadership qualities to make a positive impact on the future of the Bathurst region.”
Council’s fifth senior staff member - cultural and community services director Alan Cattermole – has been in the role since February 2015.
