The Polding Championships are a pathway for all NSW Catholic primary school students. Representative golfers selected at the Polding Trials will compete in the 2017 NSW PSSA Golf Championships, an elite level of golf competition for primary school age golfers.
If Davis and Starkey can qualify for the Polding side they will venture on to that next level, which will be held on September 7 and 8 at the Camden Lakes Golf Club.
Both Davis and Starkey have Golf Australia registered handicaps and have excelled as part of local professional Matt Barrett’s junior academy at the Bathurst Golf Club.
The school boasts a strong history in the sport, with previous golfers including former students Chantal and Reece Hodson. The pair have gone on to work professionally in the golf industry.
Dylan Thompson is another former student of the school who has returned from Montana Rocky Mountain College in the United States, and has since taken up a trainee professional position in Bathurst.
“Our school golfers have been highly motivated with the Polding Trials being held in Mudgee,” Holy Family principal Kevin Arrow said.
“The boys are developing their skills rapidly and they should do well at the Polding level. We wish the boys well with their school rep golf.”
