The Gloucestershire town of Cirencester, north west of London, is the home of the ninth Earl and Countess Bathurst, who last visited the Australian city that bears their name during the bicentenary celebrations in May 2015.
A friendship relationship between Cirencester and Bathurst was raised during that visit and has been further explored in the years since.
Cirencester Town Council, in partnership with Cirencester Community Development Trust (CCDT), is planning a series of activities and events culminating in a community launch of the friendship partnership at the Cirencester Parish Church in October.
The giant postcard, standing at four foot by six foot, has been created as part of the initiative to bring the two towns closer together via commerce, tourism, sports, the arts, community and education
The postcard - featuring iconic images of Cirencester and Bathurst – will be sent to the Bathurst mayor at the end of October.
But it needs to be filled first, according to Cr Mark Harris of Cirencester Town Council.
“The postcard has various gaps that we would like you to fill with your pics,” he said.
“We would like you to send in your view of your town, whether it is of Bathurst or Cirencester.
“It can be a new photo, an old photo or even a painting or drawing. We will pick winners and they will go on to the card and it will be posted to the mayor of Bathurst at the end of October.”
Images are to be sent to info@cirencesterbathurst.org or can be tweeted to @CirenBathurstFor or added to the Cirencester Bathurst Friendship Facebook page.
A judging panel made up of sponsors will choose the winning pictures, according to Cr Harris, and they will be printed on the card.
Entries close on September 30.
