Bathurst City’s Sarah McCusker was not one of them.
As she sat on the bench before being rotated back into City’s defensive line-up for the final minutes of the match, McCusker cast a relaxed figure.
She was one of three players who had been part of the 2011 grand final winning line-up – Kirsten Howard and Kelsey Willott the others – and had confidence this year’s playing group could repeat the success.
That they did, beating Lithgow Panthers 5-2.
“I think I scored a goal that year … and I remember drinking out of the cup afterwards,” she said of 2011.
“I did think we had the side to win this year actually, we’d been good all year and came together so good.
“I don’t get nervous, and when it was 4-1, yeah I knew we had it.”
