There have been reports of snow south of Bathurst around Taralga, Rockley and Oberon after dark clouds swept through the region.
The Bureau of Meteorology had forecast possible snow and hail but it seemed a world away earlier in the day.
While the temperature barely reached double figures all day, it was blue skies for most of the region until lunchtime.
A sheep graziers’ alert remains in place for the Central Tablelands and more snow is expected above 700 metres tonight.
The temperature is expected to drop to -4 degrees Celsius tonight and there is a top of just 13 degrees forecast for Monday.
