On Thursday, current staff, students and former teachers and students gathered to celebrate the occasion with a liturgy followed by open classrooms and picnic lunch.
School principal, Sue Guilfoyle, said the celebration was an opportunity to look back with gratitude for the spirit of Assumption that remains in the thousands of students who have passed through the gates.
A highlight of day was the launch of the Assumption School prayer, co written by Francesca Burke, Ashlee Norris and Sophia Pezzuto.
The prayer was launched at a liturgy, which was followed by open classrooms with parents and grandparents coming to visit the children.
There was also an art exhibition featuring the students’ work in the school hall.
Among the guests at the event include former principal Sr Jean Cain and Judy King (nee Peel) a student at the school in 1964.
