Sweet Lady bolted out of the boxes and led by four lengths heading into the turn and won comfortably by a margin of 7.25.
Trainer Richard Griffiths said it was a lucky win, which was accomplished in 17.98 seconds.
“It’s just luck. Simply luck,” he said.
“The other dogs cleaned themselves out and took themselves out and she got left alone. That’s as simple as that.”
Regardless of the luck, Griffiths said it was a terrific result.
Rosedene Valor ($6.50) finished in second spot, with Phanton Mae ($18) picking up the final placing in his maiden start.
Rosedene Warrior ($2.70) started as race favourite but finished a disappointing last.
Sweet Lady is owned by Caryl Griffiths and the two-year-old black bitch comes from quite a handy litter.
“It’s a litter of 11 and she’s the 10th one in the litter to win,” Griffiths said.
“It’s a pretty good litter.
“We can’t do a lot with her because she had a toe amputated. That’s why she started so late. We didn’t think she’d ever race, we just kept her to breed.
“She drove us mad in the kennel, so we gave her a race. I’m very happy with the race, it was very good.
Griffiths is not quite sure what is next for Sweet Lady considering he was not overly optimistic.
“I didn’t think she’d win,” he laughed.
