Forty-four female golfers participated in the event, with Barbara Piddington and Manor Cooper being crowned champions of division two after finishing two shots ahead of Jenny Murray and Barbara Anderson.
McCarthy said she was surprised to win the first division championship.
“The lower handicaps could’ve won but we were very steady,” she said.
“We had one miss-hit each and putted well. It’s usually in the chipping and the putting where you win but we are steady players. We’re virtually up the middle every hole.
“In this event you can’t have any excuses.”
This is the second year the partnership McCarthy and Davis have competed at the foursome championship and the pair have gone one better, after finishing as runners-up in 2016.
“That was against two top guns,” McCarthy said.
“One was off a handicap of two and the other has off a handicap of eleven at that point in time.”
McCarthy currently has a handicap of 15 and Davis has a handicap 13.
“As long as you’re steady, up the middle, you can succeed,” she said.
“You don’t have to be a very high handicap to get a win.”
McCarthy praised the quality of the green.
“The green is beautiful, rolling well. It’s just come off the men’s open,” she said.
“You couldn’t complain for 27 holes.”
