Their work was part of Graffiti Removal Day, a major campaign aimed at removing graffiti from public spaces.
In Bathurst, the rest stop across from Bathurst Correctional Centre was restored, as were a communications box on Bentinck Street, the Elephant and Castle Hotel and several other sites.
Bathurst Rotary’s Chris Bennett said it was important to remove graffiti as it would help to reduce future instances of it.
“Graffiti attracts graffiti. So once we remove it … usually twice, people stop doing it because they realise it is just going to be wiped down,” he said.
The Rotary club will continue to remove graffiti around Bathurst on a regular basis.
Anyone who sees graffiti is encouraged to report it to 0418 646 444.
