BRAG’s visitor comments range have generally been overwhelmingly positive, such as “So amazing! Beautiful, funny, confronting, Thank you! ”; “An incredible exhibition. Thank you BRAG! This is what art is about”; “WOW – very touching and superbly curated”.
Social media channels have been non-stop, too, with the latest comment: “The Unflinching Gaze – the most radical, outrageous show in Australia (if not the world) at the moment!”
While you are there, check out the new pottery display, The Unflinching Glaze, in the gallery/library foyer. The works are by Stephen Benwell and Peter Cooley to coincide with BRAG’s current exhibition.
Both The Unflinching Gaze and The Unflinching Glaze are exclusive to Bathurst with a range of free public programs organised by BRAG for the community. These include the free guided tour every Saturday at 11am with curatorial insights.
BRAG’s assistant curator Julian Woods will lead you on a free one-hour tour through the largest exhibition BRAG has undertaken, going through exhibition highlights, behind-the-scenes observations and knowledgeable stories about various artists, artworks and themes within The Unflinching Gaze.
There is no need to book, just turn up.
Additional public programs include a film festival, curator’s talk (Gossip: Andy Warhol’s Private Life and His Art) and curator’s nude tour (Just The Bare Essentials).
Visit www.bathurstart.com.au or visit our Facebook page.
As part of the film festival, BRAG invites you to a unique film screening of That Man: Peter Berlin on Thursday, November 9 at 6pm at BRAG.
Peter Berlin, a model, photographer, filmmaker, clothing designer, and underworld icon who features in The Unflinching Gaze, was photographed by the likes of Andy Warhol and Robert Mapplethorpe.
This documentary gives an insight into why BRAG director Richard Perram selected the artist and works of Peter Berlin for the exhibition.
RSVP by November 15 to jo.dicksen@bathurst.nsw.gov.au or call 6333 6555.
Remember, entry to the Bathurst Regional Art Gallery is free.
