This year’s event, held along the Macquarie River on Sunday, attracted hundreds of anglers who caught a total of 98 of the feral fish.
“I’ve taken part for seven years, I like fishing about a kilometre from the Eglinton Bridge,” Mr Macri said.
“I look for big holes, deep water and trees always help.
“Corn is the best bait, if you use worms the redfin pick on them.”
Mr Macri has also caught a few whoppers in his time, the largest was a 7.2 kilogram carp a couple of years ago.
In the overall results, the largest carp weighed 6.12kgs and was caught by Rod Evans in the senior category. The largest carp for a junior was 5.17kgs by Noah Evans.
The smallest carp, at just 0.57kgs, was caught by Charlotte Evans.
Jim Squibb had the largest catch in the senior category with 22 carp pulled from the river on they day, while Josh Lane won the juniors with two carp.
