RE: Dogs Farm (Western Advocate, October 24).
I am horrified to read that the council is considering allowing a puppy farm to be built 21 kilometres south of Bathurst at Fosters Valley, especially to supply a pet shop.
These dogs (60 or more) will be confined and bred continually and not given enough social and psychological needs that they deserve to have.
What happens to these breeding dogs when their time is up? Even if they are lucky to be rehomed it would take up to two years to be rehabilitated to become a dog again.
Dogs are different to livestock. They need affection and love from humans.
Let us stop any more puppy farms now, whether it is legal or illegal.
