Parkes is still looking for a president, treasurer and secretary ahead of Tuesday night’s third annual general meeting and if no one steps up to fill the void the Spacemen could fold.

It’s the dire reality facing the club after what was a fairly successful 2017 Group 11 campaign, with first grade making it to the preliminary final last season.
Returning vice president Ricky Newham said it was frustrating no one had stepped up to help run the club, with last year’s president Andrew Porter stepping down from the role after just the one season in charge.
“We’re still looking … it is frustrating,” Newham said.
“I thought it would have been sorted by now, we’re a month or more behind everyone at the moment.
“I know there will be a few there on Tuesday. There’s a handful keen to help out, but we need to cement the president’s job. If we don’t do that, we fold.”
Newham, 32, said it was important some old boys got behind the club moving forward.
“I’d be great to see a few older guys turn up to the meeting. They finish up playing and you don’t see much in some cases,” he added.
The Spacemen committee man, who has served the club for several seasons, said he was shocked Porter wasn’t standing for president again.
“He did the 12 months, and that was it. Bit shocked he finished up that,” he said.
“We encourage anyone that wants to be part of the club to come down and get involved.
“You don’t have to have any experience. At this stage, no one is on the committee either. It’s been really pretty quiet so far.”
Newham said he’s spoken to Group 11 officials about the club’s plight, and chairman Derrick Hoe would be in attendance on Tuesday.
The Parkes Spacemen’s AGM is at the Parkes Leagues Club from 6.30pm.
