A NEW electric car charging station in Bathurst is set to fill a major gap in the state’s charging network.
Bathurst Regional Council has agreed to have the new station established on a council-owned property but full details are yet to be released.
The terms of the contract with an unnamed provider were discussed during a confidential meeting last week.
The proposed location has not yet been disclosed but councillors voted to “delegate authority to the general manager [David Sherley] to sign a licence agreement on behalf of council”.
Electric car giant Tesla unveiled its first Bathurst charging station at Abercrombie House earlier this year but the Western Advocate understands the new station will be bigger, better and closer to the central business district.
“The new charging station, with four to six chargers, will basically allow people travelling from Sydney and Canberra another place in the Central West to charge their cars,” Mr Sherley said.
