The school’s Movember Games, held in term four each year, involve the teachers taking on the year six students in a series of sports.
Once the scores have been tallied over the three sports (this year they were soccer, rugby league and volleyball), the winners get to hold the Movember Games first place trophy for the next year.
The teachers won the trophy in the first two years, but the year sixes won it last year.
“And they [students] have been telling us about it all year,” teacher Jacob Parslow said.
As well as raising awareness about men’s health and health in general, Mr Parslow said the Movember Games are a chance for everyone at the school to “let their hair down”.
“The kinders can’t wait to get into year six so they can mix with the teachers,” he said.
Students from all years were sporting moustaches on Wednesday to celebrate the day and brought in a donation that will go to the Movember Foundation, which works to reduce the number of men dying prematurely.
And the final result in the 2017 Movember Games? The teachers defeated the students 43-29 and will hold the trophy for the next year.
