Tact Tate has the widest draw for the feature race of the night, the Kevin Robinson FFA (1,609 metres) but will have the gate speed to work forward.
The two-time Group 1 winner comes into the race with a frighteningly quick trial mile rate of 1:54.7 at Bathurst.
It leaves no doubt that the McArdle x Tact Lizzie gelding travels to Menangle at his best, following an eight month spell.
After winning the $100,000 G1 Bohemia Crystal FFA in February Tact Tate suffered a shock fourth placing at home.
This Saturday’s race features another Bathurst-trained chance – Ashlee Grives’ My Lucky Belle.
The recent Kay Duker Memorial champion starts from gate five.
Grives’ Gotta Go Cullet x Luck Be A Lady mare has won two of her last three starts, all at this track, but this will be a hefty step up in class.
The race has no shortage of classy challengers for the Bathurst-trained horses to contend with.
Craig Cross’ Len Smith Mile runner-up Mach Doro will command a lot of respect from gate eight.
Former Gold Chalice runner-up Charlaval shouldn’t be counted out, with the KerryAnn Turner gelding enjoying a gritty first-up win a fortnight ago.
The Kevin Robinson FFA gets underway from 9.20pm on Saturday.
Both Amanda and Steve Turnbull also have horses featuring the night’s Menangle Country Series finals.
