Council has launched #Bathurst2040, a conversation with the community to seek ideas, feedback and suggestions about what makes Bathurst a great place to live, work and invest.
Mayor Graeme Hanger said it was easy to get involved.
“While you are out and about over the Christmas break, take a photo of what you love about Bathurst and post it to social media using the hashtag #Bathurst2040,” Cr Hanger said.
“We want to build an album of photos from the community to create a picture about what it is that people love about our city and our community,” he said.
“As well as sharing photos on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, you can also give us your ideas and stories on the YourSay Bathurst website.
“We are also looking for ideas about what you think could help make Bathurst even more exciting as we move towards 2040. Share your stories about what you love about Bathurst and the surrounding region.”
The submissions council receives will be used to provide input into the Community Strategic Plan.
They will reflect what the community sees as being important in planning for the future.
Early next year council will conduct a number of workshops for community members to provide input into the Community Strategic Plan.

What’s the plan?
- In 2011, council developed, and adopted, the Bathurst 2036 Community Strategic Plan. The plan was reviewed in 2012 following the election of the new council.
- Council is required by legislation to review and update the Community Strategic Plan following each council election.
- The new plan will be the Bathurst 2040 Community Strategic Plan and needs to be adopted by council by June 2018.
- The community strategic plan seeks to make Bathurst a great place to live, work, study invest and play; to create a vibrant regional city that has all the benefits of a rural lifestyle; to encourage sustainable growth and the protection of the region's economic, social and environmental assets.
