Chifley Local Area Command duty officer Inspector David Abercrombie said police responded to two incidents, both occurring on Saturday.
The first occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning, around 12.30am.
“Police were conducting foot patrols of a licensed premises in Keppel Street, where a number of persons underage were found in the premises and they were removed at the time,” Inspector Abercrombie said.
About 45 minutes later, two underage persons were caught attempting to enter another licensed premises after being removed from the Keppel Street premises.
“One of those persons was detained by police with the intention of taking him home to his parents,” Inspector Abercrombie said.
When detained, he became violent and it took multiple officers to restrain him before he could be conveyed to Bathurst Police Station.
He was later released into the custody of his parents pending investigation into several incidents.
The second incident police were called to on Saturday was reports of a brawl in Machattie Park, on the corner of Keppel and William streets.
“Police responded and were forced to disperse a crowd of approximately 20 people,” Inspector Abercrombie said.
Officers gave move on actions to a number of people.
Inspector Abercrombie said that, apart from those two incidents, the weekend went well.
“The general behaviour of people out and about celebrating was pretty good,” he said.
He encouraged residents to keep up the good behaviour for the rest of the week as the city moves into its New Year’s Eve celebrations.
There will be a police presence at the New Year’s Eve Party in the Park on Sunday, where officers will monitor behaviour and respond to any incidents if necessary.
“Just a reminder to people that drunken, loutish or offensive behaviour will not be tolerated,” Inspector Abercrombie said.
