Pye was nominated for his fourth Golden Guitar at the 2018 Toyota Golden Guitar Awards in the Coca-Cola Instrumental of the Year category, but the award went to the Davidson Brothers for Evelyn’s Kitchen.
The Davidson Brothers also picked up the Bluegrass Recording of the Year, for Back Where I Started.
The awards were held at the Tamworth Regional Entertainment and Conference Centre over the weekend.
Pye’s song Porch Pickin’ was one of five finalists in the Instrumental of the Year category for the awards, which also included Evelyn's Kitchen by the Davidson Brothers, Pick Me! by Michael Fix, Easy Does It, by The Bushwackers and Eva Waits, by Tommy Emmanuel.
It is the fourth time Pye has been nominated for the award.
Before the winners were announced, Pye wrote on his Facebook page “I'm excited to be a finalist in the 2018 Golden Guitar Awards for Instrumental of the Year.”
“Guitar instrumentals were a huge influence on my journey into music as a kid.
“If this track inspires some kid somewhere to pick up a guitar and have a go, then I'm happy with just that.”
The McClymonts’ cemented their status as Australia’s number one country group at the awards night picking up three wins from their six nominations, including the prestigious Country Music Album of the Year award for their #1 ARIA Country chart album Endless.
