Sister Helen O’Connell, the daughter of the late Vida and Michael ‘Boysie’ O’Connell, celebrated 50 years since she entered the Presentation Order of Sisters.
Mr and Mrs O’Connell lived in Bathurst for a number of years, where they had their children, before the family moved away to Young.
The Presentation Sisters is a teaching order, which Sister Helen entered after becoming part of the convent, going to teaching college and teaching at small country schools.
For her golden jubilee celebration, Sister Helen was joined by around 50 family members and close friends at Clifton House.
They enjoyed a lovely lunch in an old sheering shed and as part of the festivities, two of her siblings put together a presentation of photos.
Several people also made speeches.
