Cirkus Surreal, the school’s student circus troupe, will be heading overseas for their two-week tour, where they will participate in workshops and do two performances from their own repertoire.
While there, the students will spend one week living with a host family, coordinated by Rotary, so they can have more than your average holiday experience.
Coordinator Stephanie Brown said there will be a lot on the agenda outside of circus.
“Apart from performing, we are also doing some tours and our students will get to catch up with the Interact Club [part of Rotary] for environmental issues,” she said.
There are 15 students in total going on the trip, most of them seniors in Year 12.
Ms Brown said it will be an amazing opportunity for them to improve their performance skills, learn more about life outside Australia and to also have a break before they start their exams.
Prior to the trip, Cirkus Surreal will put on a farewell performance for parents and the troupe’s sponsors, the Rotary Club of Bathurst, Reliance Bank and Bathurst RSL Club.
“It is traditional for us to have a performance before we go as a bit of a send-off for [the students] and to thank parents and our sponsors,” Ms Brown said.
The troupe will leave for Hawaii on April 7.
