The facility held an open day for older members of the community, encouraging them to dress to suit the island theme.
There were a lot of grass skirts, Hawaiian print shirts and colourful leis to be seen as people enjoyed the musical entertainment, which included a performance by Luke Furbank.
Visitors to the Seymour Centre were offered tea and coffee, mocktails from the Tiki Bar and hand massages from the staff at Macquarie Medi Spa.
Later in the afternoon they were visited by a choir and Filipino dancers.
Seymour Centre manager Terisa Ashworth said it was a great way to kick off the Seniors Festival.
“The theme [of the festival] is ‘Let’s do more together’ and that is what we want to do all the time. We are open Monday to Friday every week,” she said.
“We want to provide an opportunity for everyone to have fun and form friendships.”
The Seymour Centre will hold another open day on Saturday for those who couldn’t make it on Wednesday, this time with a country and western theme.
Ms Ashworth promised there would be a lot of hay bales and cowboy hats.
“We will have a barbecue on that day and there will possibly be some line dancing and other great entertainment,” she said.
