The Royal Bathurst Show begins on Friday and thanks to this year being the 150th show, even bigger crowds are expected across the three days.
This year will also coincide with the 25th year since the show became a royal one.
It’s a significant honour, one Royal Bathurst Show president Sam Farraway is keen to keep a hold of.
“I don’t believe any other show will be granted a royal status,” he said.
“To have it is great and we need to hang onto it. With status comes the expectation.
“We have a change in our normal schedule this year, so we can fit in so many more things for the 150th celebration.
“This is probably, without being bias, the leading regional agricultural show in NSW, if not Australia.”
Fireworks will be held on both Friday and Saturday night, ones that Mr Farraway said are “renowned as the best fireworks west of the Blue Mountains”.
Another highlight will be the grand parade on Saturday.
“We’ve pushed the opening back on Saturday to celebrate the biggest grand parade,” he said.
Even though gates officially open on Friday morning, setting up and judging begun well over a week before.
“It’s all happening down at the showground now. There’ll be some long nights before Friday,” he said.
“We’ve got the dressage on Wednesday and the pony club day on Thursday.
“Hundreds of people are required for Bathurst’s largest annual event. It celebrates the community and brings people together.”
The Royal Bathurst Show Society has been hard at work for the past 12 months, practically starting the planning for this year’s show after the 2017 concluded.
Gates open at 9am, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The show will finished at 10pm on both Friday and Saturday, but will conclude earlier on Sunday at 4pm.
Tickets are still available at www.bathurstshow.com.au or the gate on the day, with tickets starting at $13 for a single day child pass, with a family pass of five costing $64 for one day.
