Track manager, Simon Morris, has the track ready and looking an absolute treat for the seven races card. Last year’s feature race saw jockey Jess Taylor pilot the Graham Brown trained ‘Elle A Walking’ home, and this year’s action packed program promises more top quality racing and entertainment.
The afternoon will begin with an official ceremony conducted by the Bathurst RSL Club, recognising and remembering all Australian soldiers who served and died in war. While the Soldier’s Saddle offers a wonderful afternoon at the races, it is also a day on which we honour the spirit of the Anzacs, with qualities of courage, mateship, and sacrifice. The ceremony will begin with the Last Post and the Ode, followed by a Minutes Silence and Reveille
Once the races kick off there will be plenty for the crowds to enjoy including the always popular two-up, food stalls, entertainment and live music with a line-up of top local talent.
There will be three live bands performing throughout the day, starting off in the afternoon with the Perthvillians, followed by local favourite Mickey Pye, and to get the crowd up the Mud Monkeys will be on hand to get the crowd dancing.
The Fashions on the Field competition are back once again with bigger and better prizes. Categories include Most Elegant Classic Lady, Best Classic Dressed Man, Most Contemporary Lady and Contemporary Best Man along with Autumn Wear.
First prize in all categories is $500 cash with $250 for the runner up. This is along with all of our fantastic prizes from local businesses, so with final judging at 3pm, make sure you frock up or suit up, grab your fascinators and ties, and enter for your chance to win.
A new addition top the day will be the Beauty Bar hosted by Brow Renovation. They will be offering a large range of services from airbrushed foundations and touch ups through to full make up sessions. Founder of Brown Renovation, Kristy Pitman, said the Beauty Bar will help keep the ladies looking sharp all day long.
