The inmates are involved in the Defence Community Dogs program, which has trained more than 40 rescue dogs as service animals to assist former soldiers suffering physical and mental health problems.
Inmates have also sent care packages to Australian Defence Force troops serving overseas, to boost their spirits this Anzac Day.
These two kilogram care packages are packed with food, toiletries and magazines.
The inmates have generously donated 12 kilograms of items, which they purchased through buy-ups – the prison grocery scheme – and this was enough to make six packages.
An Anzac Day memorial service will be held at the Bathurst Correctional Centre at 8.15am.
