Committee leader John Hollis said everyone involved was “really happy” with the level of interest Bathurst’s seniors showed in the festival, the number of attendees at the different events an indication of that.
On offer were exercise classes, open days at local facilities and bus tours.
“[The tours] were booked out, the Begonia House tour and Sweet Caramel [morning tea] was booked out, and the Cheek to Cheek show at BMEC was very well attended, so they are all very good indicators that it was successful,” Mr Hollis said.
“What it shows is that we have improved on last year and in our debrief on Thursday we will look at how we can improve again.
“You can always do better and we are keen to see what our Achilles heel was.”
While the committee won’t know for sure until it starts examining the festival in great detail, Mr Hollis said he felt the physical program had played a large part in the overall success.
The program booklet had an easy-to-read table of events with days and times at the front to help people put together a schedule for themselves.
Further into the booklet there was a little write-up on each event on during the festival with contact information and prices, where applicable.
The committee also went to the effort of making the program easily accessible, with copies able to be picked up from places such as the civic centre, Bathurst Regional Council facilities, doctors surgeries and pop-up stalls.
“We had a table in the Bathurst City Centre where we handed the program out to the senior people doing their shopping and we handed out about 150 programs,” Mr Hollis said.
The committee is thankful to all the facilities and businesses that offered events to seniors throughout the festival.
Mr Hollis also wanted to thank Erin Trevor-Jones from council for her assistance in organising the festival.
