The Perthville driver will join Tony D’Alberto behind the wheel of the brand-new #10 Simply Sports Cars Lotus Exige in the Australian Production Cars series.
The pair will begin their bid for outright and Class A1 honours in 2018 when round one is staged at Sandown Raceway from May 11-13. It will mark the first time a Lotus has appeared in the series.
When it comes to exactly how the Exige will stack up against the competition this year, Simply Sports Cars’ Mark O’Connor is feeling confident.
“We think the car will be competitive across the course of the season. The tracks with flowing corners will suit us, whilst we won’t be as strong at tracks with 90-degree corners and long straights,” he said.
“Sandown falls into that latter category, so we may struggle against some of the higher horsepower cars at that first outing – the car is a simple one though, so unlike some of our opposition, we don’t have any complicated electrical systems.
“Our team has quite a bit of experience in endurance racing, having successfully competed in the Bathurst 12 Hour race since 2008 in various Lotus Exige models.
“We are of course very pleased to have such experienced and talented drivers in Grant and Tony join us – they will be a very strong pairing and we are looking forward to working with those guys.”
