The ALO team of volunteers join six million Australians who volunteer their time across the country. In 2016 an estimated total of 932 million hours were volunteered in Australia.
The theme for National Volunteers Week is Give A Little, Change A Lot. It represents the millions of volunteers who make a profound impact in their communities by giving a little time.
ALO provides a range of services to help people stay in their own home as long as they choose. Our volunteers support people in a range of ways from having a cuppa and a chat to taking people out to the shops, appointments and social outings.
ALO Volunteer Danny Clayton said volunteering with ALO was “the best unpaid job in the world”.
Danny visits several clients in their home and takes them out individually. He also oversees the men’s group which has an outing every six weeks.
ALO is very grateful to Danny and all the volunteers who brighten our clients’ days. We are also supported by a very committed group of volunteers who form our board of management, donating their time to run our organisation.
If you are looking to give something back to the community and to join a friendly band of men and women then consider volunteering at ALO. Call ALO today on 6338 2345 to find out more about volunteering.
ALO is a local provider of disability, aged care and carer support services.
