David Robert Barber, 44, of Tumbi Umbi did not appear before magistrate Michael Allen on May 14. Instead he sent a written plea of guilt to the court.
Police facts tendered to the court told how on April 12 the accused was stopped for a random breath test in Alexander Street, Bathurst.
The test returned a negative result but police detected a strong smell of cannabis coming from the cabin of the vehicle.
After speaking with police the accused immediately admitted to having an amount of cannabis in the car.
Police located two amounts of cannabis wrapped in glad wrap in a bag on the front seat of the vehicle and a bong water pipe behind the passenger seat of the vehicle.
The accused made full admissions to possessing cannabis for personal use. The cannabis seized in its packaging weighed 21.9 grams.
For possession of a prohibited drug, Barber was convicted and fined $300.
A second charge was dismissed.
